So the Pickle post comments have turned into a discussion on zippers. How the futon that happened? I dunno.
Voice in on your opinion: Zipper or button fly?
Also, thanks to the So. Carolina man Shua Blankenship of HRTWRK for the link to the Futon today!

Flys says,
Button fly all the way, but, then again, those buttons often come adorned with meaningless letters as well. Still button fly...my zipper keeps falling down today and that rarely happens with the buttons. Though, I must admit I had a pair of really old button flys...I am talking holes in the knees, just below the rear, just below the croch (back in college you know)...BUT DAMN they were comfy--those buttons flopped open at will...
Maybe that is where my life took its turn. Maybe I can blame it all on the button fly...
Hmmmm...elastic anyone?

i vote for velcro.. as in board-shorts velcro. when are my velcro lucky dungarees coming?

Zipper flys..
Button flies leave holes on top and bottom of the button, and that's pretty uneasy, if you know what I mean.
And velcro flies would be embarrassing in the public bathroom. Every time you open your fly, it makes a great "crrrrrrrrrrrrrkkkkkkk" sound.

well I must admit, the button fly phase DID go out with shoes that had velcro straps (thanks greenroom).
but about 6 months ago i was browsing in my wife's Favorite Store (which since has become mine as well). anyway, i stumbled on these cool jeans that were well worn and freakin' dope. now, i hadn't worn jeans since i used to wear velcro shoes, but i thought it was time to change my image. i purchased said jeans and soon began to have this very debate in my mind. i just couldn't decide if the button fly was better than the zipper. but, here are my musings on the topic. (by the way, i think in outline format, which means that i started thinking when i was a junior in high school during my AP English class where we learned outline formats).
Zipper vs. Button Fly -----
A. Zipper
GOOD THINGS
1. Cool Sound
2. YKK on your privates
3. Less wind on your privates
4. More control at the urinal. ie. you don't look like you're playing with anything down there
5. YKK zippers have a locking device creating a high level of security and minimal mishaps
6. Cool Sound
BAD THINGS
1. Something About Mary
2. This horrible thing that happened to my Dad in Catholic School (it was bad ... i mean bad!)
3. That thing with my Dad in Catholic School involved nuns ... NUNS!!!
4. The zipper teeth. Teeth + Privates = Crying
5. What if i went Camando? That spells trouble with zipper teeth.
B. Button Fly
GOOD THINGS
1. i like buttons ... a lot
2. The guy on Melrose Place had a button fly, remember the pool at that place? Camando
3. No teeth + Privates = Smiling
BAD THINGS
1. An estimated 5 times longer at the urinal
2. People laugh when you take 5 times as long with your hands down there
3. On cold nights, the draft is a killer
4. With boxers and button fly, at the right angle ... there could be a momentary visual
5. No cool sounds
so, that's what i came up with. feel free to use these same reasons for your own thinking. but remember, in life you only get one screw up in this area. if someone gets a visual, you're pretty much done for. believe me, i watched Melrose Place.

Caleb - I see that thoughts of zipper vs. button may torment you at night. It's cool tho man, even though I didn't watch Melrose, I was ALL about 90210. Oh, and I'm all about the Good Side of the Button fly.
