Pre-Order.

So the whole pre-order thing on iTunes. First off, I can't figure out how to retrieve my pre-ordered version of Coldplay's X&Y. Not that I don't have it already, but I'd like the legit copy...

Then that got me to thinking. The pre-order is the new attack against piracy. Let's use this motherfuton for an example:

I downloaded X&Y about a week ago. I then went on to pass it to everyone I know. Ok, maybe that part is made up. But I want to promote a little bit of the bad boy image, you know, to make me appear cool. Anyways, I got to thinking, why have the pre-order? I mean sure, you get two extra songs. But I already got those songs off of the Speed of Sound single that came out a month ago. So really, what's the point?

Well, the way I figure it, good ol EMI knew that I was gonna download a pirated version of X&Y, and wanted to get my money long before the leak occured in order to secure their fundage of the album. In other words, the pre-order is just there to make you pay before a leak comes out, b/c when the leak leaks, and it will leak, you will have already committed your money to it.

They already have the new Billy "I've found God" Corgan's album up for pre-order. My prediction: We're gonna see a lot more pre-order of big name, potential leaker albums.

Now, can anyone tell me how to get my pre-ordered X&Y to download?

Ok, so I just got an email with a link to my pre-order. I guess that's how you get it.

Harold says,

I was just going to break it down for you. I got mine last night!

Also, you could have logged into your account under iTMS and gone to the pre-order section, I'm sure you could have got it from there as well. Its good stuff (the new coldplay with the extra vid, booklet and songs).

Harold -

I intially went to my account information area, however all that offered me was the ability to cancel my pre-order. Did you get yours before midnight last night?
