Are we really LOL?

Some of you may recall my comment I made to my friend who I called "Dan", but really his name IS Dan, back when he bought a Dell. In my IM to him I wrote that I was LOL, but was I really?

Nope.

One, because it wasn't really that funny. And two, because if I was really laughing out loud, the office dullard would be suspicious that I was having too much fun at work. When we type LOL, I'd be willing to bet that most of us are only laughing in our heads and not actually laughing out loud.

Oh how it plauges me to think of the lies that we spread daily...

I propose a movemnt. From now on, I won't lie and say I'm really laughing out loud when I'm not. Instead, I'll reply with LIMH. Laughing In My Head. Because really, that's what I'm doing.

I have a friend that is really stupid. Well, either stupid or dyslexic.

He spends alot of time in Yahoo Chat rooms... mostly hitting on underage asian woman, but nevermind that for now.

Every time he saw someone writing LMAO he read it to himself as "IMANO" .. eee mon ohh. At some point he got confident that IMANO was in fact what he was reading when seeing LMAO and he felt his pronunciation was correct because he started saying it in person...

We'd be out to dinner, I'd toss out a joke... and he'd scream like a school girl "IMANO! IMANO!".

I let him get away with it once, then asked him wtf he was saying. After figuring it out I corrected him and corrected his error. I spent months mocking him and belittling him in public...

I thought that he would get the hint. Well, that was 2 years ago... as late as last week I heard him chuckling "IMANO! IMANO".

IMANO. That is freaking hilarious. There is one friend you must keep. I have a friend that can not properly pronounce the name Linksys. I die every time he refers to it as Licksees. I am his tech support long distance. He is dabbling in wireless networks. Licksees wireless networks. Another keeper.

btw, when i read about IMANO i really did lol.

Confessions...

For the first year of using AIM & 3rd year of using email I thought LOL meant Lots of Love. After a while I realized that this phrase didn't seem to make sense at the time people used it. Finally, someone set me straight.

SMH (shaking my head)

Greenroom - I myself have explained LOL to friends who were lost. You are not alone. You may be an idiot for not figuring it out, but feel better, because there are lots of idiots out there. ;-)

I prefer to use LIMF (laughing in my futon). Sometimes I will use it at the coffee shop when a stranger tells a nice joke. "Limf, man...limf." I think he usually appreciates it.

Laughing my futon off (the futon thats in my head) out loud, well not really, it's next to the coffee table.
