An About Page.

So I realize, that as minimal as I like to keep this site, an About Page would be nice to let all 10 of my readers (yes, the number has reached double digits, and yes, 8 of them are my friends) know a bit more about me, your MotherFuton.

So for those interested, read on while I interview myself. For those not interested. Well... you have a thick candy shell.

MF: So, tell us about yourself and the Futon.
ME: You can read all about the beginnings of the Futon and how to use it, here and here.

As for me, my name is Noah Stokes. I am 28 years young, born in the state of California, educated at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, husband to my beautiful wife of nearly 5 years, Danika, father to my 4 month old son Owen (aka, O-Sam and O-Dawg).

MF: California eh? So is your life like Baywatch?
ME: Funny you ask, yes, yes it is JUST like Baywatch. And my high school was just like the O.C.

MF: How about a picture?
ME: Sure.

MF: How about a picture of your hot wife?
ME: Hey, watch yourself... Danika.

MF: What kicks are you wearing right now?
ME: My Adidas Formel 1's. Yes, I have a shoe thing.

MF: What do you do to pay the outrageous electric bills?
ME: I work as an Engineer at palmOne. (None of the views/thoughts/disses/raves expressed on any page here at the Futon reflect that of my employer)

MF: Do you like your job?
ME: They don't call it work for nothin.

MF: Can you get us a free Treo650?
ME: No.

MF: What about one of those new LifeDrive's?
ME: No.

MF: What wheels do you roll in?
ME: (Holding my head high) A Camry.

MF: Tee hee.
ME: Shut up. Oh, I also have a BMW F650GS.

MF: Oh...
ME: Yeah, what's up.

MF: Are you a Mac or PC kinda guy?
ME: Mac since the Apple IIe.

MF: What do you do with your Apple IIe?
ME: Create/edit/post video and motion graphics, record music via Pro Tools, and download Bit Torrents of my favorite TV shows.

MF: We had no idea an AppleIIe could do all that?!
ME: It doesn't. I drive a Dual 2.0 G5, 20" Cinema, 620GB of storage, 4.5GB of RAM, dual layer Superdrive and contemplating adding a second 20".

MF: You're a total nerd aren't you?
ME: Did I tell you about my speedboat?

MF: You have a speedboat?
ME: No.

MF: Oh... Where were we? What do you do with your free time?
ME: Glad you asked. I have no free time. I am finishing up the remodel on the master bathroom, finishing a few web sites for friends, playing in a psuedo band, sitting in traffic, raising a child, nurturing a marriage, and planning out what the Futon to do with my 1/3 acre backyard.

MF: Wow, that's a lot.
ME: Well, a 1/3 acre isn't that much...

MF: No, we mean... nevermind.
ME: Jealous of my F650, aren't you?

MF: Who are the hero's in your life?
ME: Jesus (he was such a rebel), and my folks. My wife too, she is unbelievably strong, and has to put up with me, and raise our son.

MF: Favorite bands of all time?
ME: Pearl Jam, Primus, Beatles, Radiohead.

MF: Quite a mix. What about your favorite Genre?
ME: Blues. SRV Blues.

MF: Favorite TV shows?
ME: Of all time?

MF: Sure, past and present.
ME: MacGyver, Cosby Show, Seinfeld, Scrubs and now Lost.

MF: Favorite Movies?
ME: Oh man. Get Shorty, Usual Suspects, Waiting for Guffman, Moulin Rouge and Shazaam! (J/K on the Shazaam bit)

MF: Fan of sports?
ME: Yes, but more of a hater than a fan. I hate the Lakers, specifically Shaq, even though he is no longer a Laker, the hatred has stayed. I hate baseball. Pitch.... wait.... wait.... wait.... pitch, swing, miss.... wait.... wait.... wait.... I currently also find myself hating the Soncis and the Mavs.

MF: All that hatin doesn't sound very Jesus like...
ME: Jesus didn't have to deal with the Lakers in Game 6, now did he.

MF: If God is love, and love is blind, and Ray Charles is blind... Is Ray Charles God?
ME: Ray Charles was blind?

MF: One physical trait you wish you had?
ME: Vocal chords with the ability to sing in key.

MF: How much can you bench press?
ME: Now? Probably my own weight. Then? One and half times my own weight.

MF: Wow. How much do you weight?
ME: Shame on you for asking such a question. I work very hard to keep this girlish figure.

MF: Favorite web site?
ME: Favorite eye candy: Justwatchthesky version 2004. Damn that Sims kid has talent. Inspired me to learn me some CSS. Favorite content: Strong Bad's email's. The first 40 or so are my all time favorite. Favorite outpost: Craigslist. Weed out the idiots, and it's 10x better than eBay. I sell so much crap on CL.

MF: Favorite book?
ME: I don't read.

MF: Dream job?
ME: Madhouse in California.

MF: Does anyone ever mistake you for Jack on Lost?
ME: My wife called me Jack last night.

MF: Finally, is there any truth to the rumors that a G5 Powerbook does indeed exist?
ME: Have you ever seen a 2" thick heatsink?

MF: A wha?
ME: Have I told you about my speedboat yet?

Caleb HAGEN says,

That was some interesting info. I too would like to know about the torrents. I only got season 1 and 3 of the Gummi Bears before the feds got on that thing!

So, the speedboat. Are you for real? If so, you have lots of crap ... if you ever feel any guilt about having so much stuff please send me an email with a link to your stuff on craigs list. I'm all up on the Craigs List RSS feed as my screensaver. And I'm all up on the stuff that you might feel guilty for having ... like the G5 Powerbook that you secretly have.

Last of all, you should probably read more. I'm reading a book called Blue Like Jazz. I can't put it down. Everyone has told me about it and I didn't listen ... well, for a while. Finally I got it and have been enjoying it quite a lot. I think it's worth a Futon or two. But, I sort of wish the author had titled the book something like Blue Like Futon or Futon Like Jazz or Mother Like Futon. But, I guess Mothers can't be Futons ... or beggars choosers.

Noah says,

Caleb - On the torrents. Use Google. On the Blue Like Jazz... I've heard of that, a friend recommended it to me, but as I said in my interview, I don't read. Book on tape maybe...

Hmmm.... says,

Good to know, I think...

On baseball...you missed the bat to the eyeball. I never knew baseball could be so dangerous! Had Kaya but let me photograph her face I would have posted it here as a cautionary tale to all parents who think baseball is a safe sport that teaches patience. Two hours in the ER. an eye that is oozing blood from the small space that is not swollen shut and as purple as that awful television dinosaur!!!

Reading is the safe sport that teaches patience (at least for those who don't read the last page first).

I like what you're about.

Red Canary says,

Mother Futon was quite the investigative reporter. I would like to see more and more MF interviews. Maybe one with Ed Vedder, or Harvey Pacjeeb, the owner of Pacific Futon.

Anyways, it's nice to known the futon better.
