So I'm thinking that my current car, a Camry needs to go. I would love to get a truck, something like a Toyota Tundra. But since I commute 80+ miles a day, that doesn't sound too realistic; with rising gas prices and all... And now that my son is here, do I need to consider getting a car that he can travel in too? (i.e. no two door sports cars)
So what is out there? I would love an Audi A4. We looked at these before we bought a different car for my wife. It was nice, real nice. But the backseat is made for people with no legs. And the price is up there for a commuter car... I guess I could always consider another Camry... nice family car, good resale value, but boring look, and can get pricey if I were to go with leather and all the options. I'd get a hybrid, but a) it would take like 7 years to make up the cost difference of the car to the savings in gasoline, b) they're all FUTON ugly and c) I'm not a tree hugger.
Lately, as in the past two days, I've been thinking about getting a Mazda 3. Sporty little car, good milage, inexpensive price... could this fit all the things I need? I Googled 'Mazda 3 + iPod' and found that there are ways to hardwire an iPod into a Mazda3 (this is a must have for me). So I think I should go sit in one. Find out what makes this car tick. How she drives and how many migrant workers I can cram into the back in order to ride in the carpool lane...
What do you think I should get? My last 4 cars have been Toyota's. I swear by them... but I think I may have to stray... at least until I get a job where I don't commute. Then it's back to the '86 Land Cruiser.

i'm not sure why you didn't think of a subaru. in fact, i can't think of why anybody EVER buys anything besides subarus. one answer is, "Because they suck." clever. cute too. but dead wrong. they don't suck, they are number 1 and every other car is number 2 or worse.
i'm down with the family car concept. and again, subaru comes in number 1 again. where else can you find a wagon/rally car? and if you can handle the ugliness factor, where else are you going to find an el camino look alike but subaru's very own BAJA? people knew what they were doing when they invented the el camino. those things make sense, and they're basically a truck in a car's world.
forget the Tundra. Camry's bite. subaru is the car of the future, today.
